MAD supported this initiative for 50+ families where single mothers were given financial support and advice to set up a new business that would better support them and their children before, during the pandemic and beyond.
A recent example: a single mother ran a second hand clothes business hawking the local areas. However, it was no longer viable when the pandemic hit so she decided to set up a charcoal business, which could be run from home, meaning her children would no longer be left unattended. This would also be more sustainable and income generating.
These new businesses are also encouraged to give some money into a central pot regularly that can be loaned to other members for advancing their business.
We are proud to have partnered with the CRANE network to deliver the help needed in order to make a difference.
